This shake is great for your vitality in the morning by getting a boost of necessary micronutrients and antioxidants (read the ‘Guide to Micronutrients’ for more detail).
If you’re on a ketogenic diet, you can have this shake in the morning and generally have no trouble fasting through the day before having lunch in the early to mid afternoon.
This is a great idea if you’re cutting weight, as it allows you to drop your calorie intake (i.e. by making it your morning meal) yet still feel satiated. It’s also convenient and a hell of a lot quicker to prepare and consume than making a solid-based breakfast.
1 garlic clove
1 tsp of ginger
1 cup of Kale (or Spinach)
3 tbsp of greek yoghurt (preferably The Collective greek yoghurt)
1 tbsp of Coconut oil
Handful of blueberries
1 tbsp of peanut butter (preferably natural such as Pic’s)
1 scoop of whey protein powder (preferably one low in sugars such as Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey)
Add water as necessary
Where appropriate, cut up ingredient and throw in a blender.
*Based on kale, The Collective unsweetened greek yoghurt, Pic’s crunchy peanut butter and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey protein powder.
